Studies show that regular breast self-exams, combined with an annual exam by a doctor, improves the chances of detecting cancer early.
Try to get in the habit of doing a breast self-examination once a month to familiarize yourself with how your breasts normally look and feel. Examine yourself several days after your menstrual cycle ends, when your breasts are least likely to be swollen and tender. If you are no longer having menstrual cycles, choose a day that's easy to remember, such as the first day or last day of the month.

*Our physicians are Nebraska’s most experienced laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgeons and have been Nebraska’s leaders in advanced laparoscopic surgery since 1988. Our goal is to use the smallest incisions to perform gynecologic surgery in the most cost effective way. Take, for example, hysterectomy. This is the most common major surgery for women. An abdominal hysterectomy involves a large incision. The national average for the abdominal approach is 65%. Our office rate is only 5%. No other office can boast these numbers! Expensive robotic surgery is not needed as our physicians assist each other to avoid complications. Less experienced physicians may choose to use the robot for more complicated cases.
